Rail Overruns

Rail overruns extend the railing of the stairlift beyond the staircase. At the top of a staircase, curved rail overruns extend some feet away from the top landing of the staircase, and may wrap around the nearby corner to allow a user to transfer in and out of the stairlift seat in a safe area away from the staircase. At the bottom of a staircase, curved rail overruns wrap the bottom railing of the stairlift around the corner and out of a path of hallway traffic.

Stairlift Operation

A switch or button placed in the unit’s armrest controls most stairlifts. This controller can be placed on either armrest. To operate your Stannah stairlift, just press the rocker switch or button on the unit’s armrest.

Custom made stairlifts come with a standard send/call switch that’s mounted on the wall near the bottom of your staircase. An extra switch may be added at the top of your staircase.

The switch allows multi-user households to access the stairlift when necessary, and also provides a means to send the chair of the stairlift to a different position on your staircase and out of the way when not in use.

Swivel Seats

Stairlift seats can swivel to facilitate safer transitions in and out of the seat. Depending on the abilities of the user, you may add a power swivel seat feature that’ll automatically turn the stairlift seat rather than requiring a user to do it manually.
